About The Children’s Garden Home Nursery
Ms. Vickie
Ms. Vickie became a part of The Children’s Garden community as a parent in 2006, when her daughter, Abigail, was enrolled in the program. Naturally, her second daughter, Adah, followed and joined the program. Once Adah moved on to kindergarten, Vickie joined The Children’s Garden as an assistant to Ms. Marie in 2014. In this role Vickie was able to further immerse herself in the Waldorf early childhood education experience with Marie serving as her mentor. Vickie works daily to care for each child. She enjoys watching the children blossom in their daily and seasonal rhythms while nurturing their wonder and curiosity. The Fall of 2021 provided an opportunity for Vickie to take on a new role in the The Children’s Garden community. She will strive to protect the boundaries that allow a child to grow in developmentally healthy ways. Vickie believes that her work in early childhood education sets the foundation for years of emotional, physical, social, intellectual and spiritual learning.
Ms. Lindsay
Ms. Lindsay joined the Children’s Garden community as a parent in 2006 as well, when her two daughters were enrolled in the program. She is trained as a school psychologist and worked for many years as an instructional consultant and instructor. She maintained ties with the Children’s Garden Community and hoped to come full circle one day, which came to fruition in 2018 when she began substituting there. She was delighted to begin working as Ms. Vickie’s assistant in the Fall of 2022. She greatly enjoys nurturing children’s natural curiosity, discovery, and growth, as they learn to express themselves, play with each other, and understand the world around them.
Our history.
Ms. Marie
Marie Nordgren established The Children’s Garden in 2004 as a home preschool program designed to nurture and protect the magic of early childhood through a nature and play-based Waldorf curriculum. The original setting was in Ms. Marie’s home and farm on Hwy 751 South with chickens, alpacas, dogs and a cat and a growing number of families who desired to be a part of her community. In 2008 the program moved to its current location. Marie’s guiding and comforting presence allowed children for years to explore and discover the natural world and rhythms. She is a master of crafting and storytelling which further nourished the children she cared for. Marie grew inspiration from the study and insights of Rudolf Steiner and the Waldorf education experience. Marie created and nurtured a community built on her dedication to the wonders of early childhood.
